Oct 29, 2009

The Concert for Safety Line, or else Concert Packed with “1s”, broadcast live from the Palace theatre in Prague raised CZK 3,654,660 as a birthday present for the Safety Line.

Viewers of the Czech TV “ČT1” channel sent 35,911 donor SMS worth CZK 1,077,330 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Safety Line. O2 Foundation, the general partner of the Safety Line and the general partner of the concert, increased the gains generated by the DMSs by the same amount. Moreover, O2 Foundation manager, Ivana Šatrová, and vice-chairman of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, Martin Kovář, handed over a cheque for CZK 1.5 million to the Safety Line; this amount included also donations by Telefónica employees and customers. The total amount raised during the charity concert for the Safety Line reached CZK 3,654,660.

Many popular personalities appeared at the historically first charity concert for the Safety Line. Besides its long-term patrons, Richard Krajčo and Pavel Šporcl, there were many other well-wishers – Jarek Nohavica, Ewa Farna, Hana Robinson, Táňa Vilhemová, Aleš Valenta and his wife Elen Valentová, Jolana Voldánová and Markéta Hrubešová. At the close of the evening, Safety Line manager Hana Petráková expressed her thanks to the TV viewers for the DMSs they had sent, and appreciated all supporters of the Safety Line. “The money raised during the concert will be used to extend and improve services provided by the Safety Line. Our effort is to increase the number of children that we can serve, as currently only 30% of children get through,” said Petráková.

Two DMSs you send = one minute of call

The Safety Line received the eight-millionth call in October. Even though children and young people make their calls toll free, the average costs per minute of a regular call correspond to two DMS received.
