O2 Foundation and Telefónica Czech Republic
O2 Foundation is a corporate foundation of Telefónica Czech Republic. By long-term, well-thought out and systematic giving, the foundation emphasizes its open approach to the social environment we live in, and accepts its share of responsibility for the society and its development.
O2 Foundation follows the tradition of Nadace Eurotel foundation incorporated in 2002; the foundation has, since its beginning, distributed over CZK 120 million in support of projects of non-governmental organizations.
O2 Foundation is one of the first corporate foundations registered in the Czech Republic and has become an example of one of the frequently used models of corporate giving. The foundation is a member of Czech Donors Forum – Association of Foundations. In 2004 and 2008, Telefónica received the prestigious VIA BONA AWARD recognizing its foundation’s activities; the Via Bona Award expresses a public recognition of long-term, qualified and systematic support of activities beneficial to the society.
Telefónica O2 Czech Republic also participated in the development of a unique philanthropic instrument – DMS – a Donor SMS. DMS is a unique, fast and transparent way that the public may use to provide contributions in support of charitable collections by the means of mobile technology. Telefónica O2 Czech Republic placed 8th among the most generous donors in the category measuring the absolute volume of donations in the 2008 TOP CORPORATE PHILANTROPIST index. The company is also the founding member of the Donator Club of Czech Donors Forum.
O2 Foundation applies the international LBG model – Standard Responsible Company to measure its philanthropic activities.
